Why is Self Care important to people of color? This workshop helps us build coping mechanisms to combat stress and fight racism as a community while gaining tools to a better you.

The workshop starts promptly with an overview of Neighborhood Voices work and into a large group discussion facilitated by Maria Gabriela Aldana Enriquez, asking participants to share recent experiences with and observations of racism. Participants activate the space through yoga and breathing techniques. Meditation follows to teach us how to be present and re-energize our day. Visual arts project, “Post Secret” is led by Allison Duggan. Lunch starts with a nutritious demonstration by local chefs of color.

Workshop concludes with a full meal and closing reflection. Workshop is for ages 14 and older. People are encouraged to participate for the entire length of the workshop. Lunch is provided for participants. Special thanks to Masters of Fine Arts in Community at MICA. This workshop is part of the MFACA Power Series event.
